On April 17 and 18th regional and local coordinators for INOGO assisted Peace Corps Costa Rica's Community Economic Development (CED) program in coordinating community informational visits in three communities in Osa and Golfito.  The meetings, which were attended by various local community based organizations, are the first in a series of pre-site selection consultations. The CED program launched in 2005 currently works on achieving two main goals:

  1. Workforce Devleopment - Improve and/or enhance job skills for better employment opportunities to provide local businesses and organizations with skilled human capital
  2. Business Devleopment - Encourage and support local entrepreneurs in the use of local resources and human capital, in a socially and environmentally responsible manner

Peace Corps volunteers in Costa Rica have made a large impact when engaged with enthusiastic and committed communities. In Osa and Golfito Peace Corps can contribute to community efforts that are working towards sustainable human development and environmental stewardship in the Osa and Golfito Cantons of Costa Rica.
