PhD, Postdoctoral Scholar in the Anthropology Dept.

Dr. Katherine Dennis is a postdoctoral scholar in the Anthropology Department and the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment. She works as a team member on the Iniciativa Osa y Golfito (INOGO) where she coordinates the Stanford Environmental Leadership and Language (SELAL) Program.

She has experience working in rural sustainable development, environmental education, and science outreach with underserved communities. Her research interests also include biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, smallholder farmers, and protected areas. For her dissertation, she studied the impacts of agroforestry development projects on smallholder farmers and the environment in the outskirts of a national park in Panama.

Katherine has a B.S. in Evolution and Ecology from the University of California, Davis, a M.S. in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland, and earned her Ph.D. in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University.
