Golfo Dulce Swim Race, Saturday June 28th , 2014

On Saturday June 28th at 09:00 local time, Playa Preciosa in Puerto Jiménez will host “Cruce Aguas Abiertas”, a swimming competition that benefits the “A favor de la corriente” educational campaign in Puerto Jiménez for English education.  One race of 1.5k will start at 09:00, and another race of 5k will start at 09:10.

New Non-Profit Hostel, Now Open in Drake Bay (Osa)

Located in village of El Progreso, Drake Bay, “Drake Bay Backpackers” is a non-profit hostel benefitting the Corcovado Foundation’s environmental programs. Drake Bay Backpackers offers affordable lodging and food, as well as community-based tourism activities for “budget” travelers. The hostel has the mission of providing affordable and sustainable travel alternatives to Ticos, backpackers, and other independent travelers, and income generated by the business is invested directly in Corcovado Foundation environmental programs.

Conservation “Connectivity Festival” June 27th-28th, 2014

On Friday June 27th and Saturday 28th in the towns of Ciudad Neily (Corredores) and San Vito (Coto Brus), various hands-on activities and events will be held to promote and celebrate environmental conservation within the southern region. Events include a seed exchange, tree donations, workshops, live music, videos, discussions, guided tours and more.
